Sonny’s mincemeat pies easily won the contest at the village’s Spring Festival. He’d always thought Granny’s apple pie recipe would taste better with some meat. Poor Gran hadn’t survived the winter, but she still helped with the baking process, and together they’d won. In life she’d been a sweet lady. In death she was delicious.
