1/2 cup of butter (softened)
3/4 cup of confectioner’s sugar
1 Tb spoon of vanilla
Food color (if desired)
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour*
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dates, nuts, maraschino cherries, candy pieces, etc.
Cake frosting
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix thoroughly butter, sugar, vanilla, and few drops of food coloring. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together. If dough is dry, add in a little cream (1 to 2 tablespoons).
Mold dough around date, nut, or maraschino cherry or chocolate pieces. Place cookies 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 12 minutes or until set, but not brown. When cooled, dip tips of cookies into cake frosting. If desired, sprinkle with nuts, colored sugar, candies, chocolate pieces.
