Five Celebrities Who Won’t Be Eating Turkey This Thanksgiving

For some, it’s a political statement. For some, it’s a matter of taste. For some, it’s about reducing impact on the environment. And for some, it’s all about health and beauty. The list includes A-list actresses, world-famous rockers, and even a former United States President. Whatever their reasons, this year vegetarians and vegans will observe Thanksgiving sans the traditional turkey. Here’s a list of five top celebrities whose Thanksgiving feast might include tofurkey, but absolutely won’t include turkey:

Alicia Silverstone

Still a fan favorite for her roles in Clueless and 1990s Aerosmith videos, Alicia Silverstone is also a dedicated vegetarian. Silverstone points to the positive impact vegetarianism has had on her health and beauty when explaining her decision to forgo meat. Since 1998, Silverstone has practiced full veganism and been a sought-after spokesperson for vegetarianism. Silverstone has even written her own vegetarian cookbook, The Kind Diet, which offers recipes and tips for practicing vegetarianism.

Christie Brinkley

An ageless icon of beauty and grace, Christie Brinkley is also a vegetarian. While uptown girl Brinkley might turn down turkey on Thanksgiving Thursday, she might want extra helpings of sweet potatoes, which one report names as one of her favorites.

Olivia Wilde

A devoted political activist in addition to a talented actor, starlet Olivia Wilde practices vegetarianism “to boycott the torture factories,” Wilde surely won’t be feasting on wild turkey this year, but she continues to drive fans wild. PETA named Wilde sexiest vegetarian of the year in 2010.

Anthony Kiedis

It’s not just the ladies who will be avoiding the Thanksgiving Butterball. Rocker Anthony Kiedis (also a former PETA pick for sexiest vegetarian) boycotts meat as a result of viewing footage of factory farm cruelty. The Red Hot Chili Peppers front man has, since viewing the footage, Kiedis practiced full veganism.

Bill Clinton

After experiencing numerous heart-related health issues, former President Bill Clinton weeded out all meat and dairy products from his diet. Now a vegetarian, Clinton has lost 20 pounds (and the chance to enjoy traditional turkey and gravy on Thanksgiving). So, he might no longer be President, but Clinton is still pardoning turkeys!
