Summer is over and the holidays are upon us. And with the changing of the seasons comes with it a variety of different farm-fresh veggies that can be found at some local markets in my area. If you tend to be somewhat of a health enthusiast, than you can first take a look at some of the selections that wild by nature has to offer. Wild by nature has a variety of independent health food markets throughout the island where I reside. If you’re from Manhattan, visiting the south shore of Long Island during the weekend, than I recommend you stop by the Hampton Bays store. Wild by nature of Hampton bays is conveniently located and like the other stores, offers a wide selection of farm fresh, tasty vegetables. Wickham’s farm stand is located in the village of Cutchogue, at 28700 Route 25A, Cutchogue, N.Y., 11935. It is approximately ninety miles east of New York City. It is also one of the oldest historical and bicentennial farm stands on the Island. In addition to having a variety of vegetables for the taking; Wickham’s also has options in the way of different fruits. Apples, pears and peaches, are some of the more popular varieties that you can find here. In addition you will experience the aromas rising from a variety of different homemade jams and even homemade pumpkin, blueberry and raspberry pies. If you are out for the weekend, or on vacation with the family or friends, you may also want to explore their orchards. Wickham offers the option for its customers; to pick fresh fruit right from the tree. So also consider this local farm stand, on your next tentative visit.
Probably one of my favorite farm stands to visit during the fall and winter months, is Bay-view farms, Bay-view farms has been around for a long time. It is famous for its many choices of fresh vegetables, fruits and one of my favorites, roasted corn. And there is also a few antique farm tractors on the grounds, to keep the kids occupied while you’re browsing among the vegetables and other fine goods.
