Create Your Own Calendar in Word for Mac

In Microsoft Word for Mac 2011, you can create many types of calendars. These include Banner, Event, Horizontal, Photo, Snapshot, and Vertical Calendars. To begin calendar, follow these 7 simple steps.

Step 1: Open up Microsoft Word for Mac 2011

First you will need to locate your Microsoft Word 2011 on your computer, then double click on it to open it up.

Step 2: Select Calendars in the Templates List

I. When you first start Microsoft Word, a “Word Document Gallery” will open up.

II. From the “Word Document Gallery”, select the “Calendars” option from the template list. This is located on the left.

III. After selecting the “Calendars” option, 8 different types of calendars will appear in the middle if the gallery. These are the Banner, Event, Horizontal – Sunday Start, Horizontal – Monday Start, Photo, Snapshot, Vertical – Sunday Start, and Vertical – Monday Start calendars.

Step 3: Select Your Calendar

Select the type of calendar you want by just clicking on it once.

Step 4: Choose Your Color and Font Schemes

I. You can now choose your color and font schemes. The color and font schemes drop down boxes are located at the right, just below your calendar template. There is a “Colors” drop down box that says “Select Your Color Scheme” and the “Fonts” drop down box that says “Select Your Font Scheme”.

II. Click on each drop down box and scroll down to locate and select your color and font schemes for your calendar.

III. Once you have selected your color and font schemes, just double click your calendar or click “Choose” at the bottom right to continue with creating your calendar.

Step 5: Select Your Calendar Dates

I. At this point, a “Calendar” dialog box will appear. You can now select your Calendar month and Year. Just click on the “Month” Drop down box to select the month. Then click on the “Year” drop down box to select the year.

II. When you are done click “Ok”.

III. You will now see a message box titled “Word 2011 Calendar”. Read the message and click “Ok” to continue.

Step 6: Edit Your Calendar

I. You can edit the writing of the calendar, by just clicking on the location where you want to edit, delete the writing with your delete key and then write your own.

II. You can add also your own image. Just click on the image you want to replace. Then on the Menu bar, click on “Insert”, then scroll down to “Photo” and select “Picture from File”. You can now browse through your picture collection and select the picture you would like to insert into your calendar.

III. Once you locate the picture, select it then click on “Insert”.

IV. You can also and edit and write into your calendar’s date box. Just click on the date you want and start writing.

Step 7: Save and Print Your Calendar

I. After editing your calendar, you can now save it to whatever name you like. Just go to the “File” Menu, select “Save As” and type the name you want to save it as in the “Save As” text area.

II. If you would like to print it, just click on the “File” Menu, and select “Print” and click “Print” again in the Print dialog box.

You have now created your own calendar in Microsoft Word for Mac.
