Yanni Coming to Cincinnati

Procter and Gamble Hall at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 16, 2012 at 8:00pm will host one of the most talented musical artists of our time “Yanni”. There has been no other musical artist of this age that has had such a global impact with the exception of maybe Paul McCarthy and the Beatles. Yanni has had over 19 original albums, and 35 Gold and Platinum recordings. He has performed in over 140 countries with live performances over his career having been attended by over 500 million people. Some of his world renown performances have been at the Acropolis in Greece, Taj Mahal in India, the Forbidden City in China, and the Royal Albert in England. Over the last year he has been in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Puerto Rico, and Panama displaying his contemporary Instrumental musical genre.

Yanni otherwise known as Yiannis Hrysomallis was born in 1954 in Greece second child of three with one older brother and one younger sister. He had two passions as a youth one was music and the other was swimming. His musical talents dominated his interests, learning both piano and the keyboard.

He moved to the United States in 1972 and attended University of Minneapolis graduating in 1976 with Bachelors Degree in Psychology. While attending college he performed with a rock band call Chameleon and toured Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chicago, Iowa and Wisconsin. He started writing and performing his own musical compositions in 1977 and release his first album in 1980 “Optimystique”, then another in 1992 “Dare to Dream” which was Grammy nominated, and 1993 “In my Time”. The momentum continued to build with his first climax occurring with his 1994 performance in Greece “Live at the Acropolis” This performance was aired on many PBS stations and the DVD has been one of the best selling musical recordings of all time. Other all-star albums include “Tribute” (1997), “Ethnicity (2003)” and “Truth of Touch” (2010). Signature recording which are favorites of Yanni fans include “Nostalgia” and “Santorini”.
