War Horse – A Movie That Depicts the Meaning of Valor

The 2011 movie War Horse, directed by Steven Spielberg, captures the true meaning of grit and valor. It is a story about a horse named Joey and a young man named Albert Narracott. This movie’s setting begins in Devon, England, right before World War I.

Joey and Albert start their passage to maturity on a farm in Devon. Their respect for one another is gained through the completion of farm work many believed couldn’t be done. Due to financial hardships and war, the two are separated.

War Horse portrays both military harshness, world history and valor. Spielberg and the filming crew captured an understanding of both man and animal. Actor Jeremy Irvine played the role of Albert Naracott. War Horse was originally written as a children’s book by Michael Morpurgo.
