Top 4 Safety Tips to Keep Your Pet Safe on Halloween

Halloween can be a fun night for kids and adults but can be a nightmare for your pet. Here are the top 4 safety rules to follow for your pet on Halloween night.

Keep candy in a safe place
. Candy, specifically chocolate, can be poisonous and potentially deadly to your pet. Candy wrappers also pose a health risk. They can be a choking hazard and get stuck in their digestive track causing serious illness or even death.

Don’t leave lit candles unattended. Animals are curious by nature and can knock over candles by trying to smell them or by hitting them with their tail. This tip can keep your pet and your house safe from a potential fire.

Never leave pets alone with costumes on. People love to dress up their pets on Halloween but costumes can pose a health risk as well. Small pieces from costumes can be swallowed easily and pets can accidently choke themselves if trying to remove the costume. Always remove the costume from your pet before leaving them unattended.

Keep your pet locked inside. Whether you are at home handing out candy or out at a Halloween party, keep your pet safe and locked inside of your house. Unfortunately, there are sick people that think scaring or abusing animals on Halloween, especially cats, is acceptable. Leave your pet water, food, and toys to keep them entertained while inside.
Following these 4 safety tips will ensure that you and your pet happy and safe night. Happy Halloween!
