The Outlaw Micheal Tomsik on the Radio Show Jaguars This Week on WKOV 106.5 Jacksonville Florida

I am already known for my ways with sports talk and when I was allowed to call into the Jaguars This Week Show on WKOV 106.5 the last two shows on Wednesdays I created quite a stir.

I do not think the host Joe, Jeff, Brain, and John quit know what to do with an Outlaw like me.

The first show was on August 24 th 2011 and the guys really did not like me talking Vegas Odds on the show even though I do that on my show at www.outlawsportsradio.com .

Maybe because Vegas has not really set very good odds for the Jaguars but I was cut off almost instantly when I mentioned Vegas only had the Jaguars winning 6.5 games this year.

The put the .o5 so people can bet that the Jaguars will win under or over that amount of games.

Than they are only 25 to 1 to win the League Championship, and 40 to 1 to win the Super Bowl.

The second show I called in and mentioned that the Jaguars needed to play every game like it was the Super Bowl even pre season games or at least have a winning team attitude. In another blog I mentioned players stating pre-season was only a game and it did not matter. That bothered me in the fact I think that the team needs to have the attitude that every game matters and they should put 100% into that game.

One thing I noticed about the show is that the host can not take a little heat from the fans or do not like outside thoughts like maybe the fans want something different than Jack Del Rio as the coach or David Garrard as the QB. Face it the team is depending on Maurice Jones Drew to carry the team.

If you want to talk facts that is fine with me lets state the facts:

Jacksonville’s 1996 season was a marked success as they won six of their last seven games of the season and finished with a record of 9-7.

In 1997, the franchise’s third season, the Jaguars and the Steelers both finished the season with an 11-5 record.

In 1998, the Jaguars again finished 11-5 and won their first AFC Central Division title

In 1999, the Jaguars compiled a league best 14-2 regular season record, the best record in franchise history

These were the most disappointing years for the new franchise, due primarily to salary cap problems. In the 2000 season, veteran quarterback Mark Brunell and young running back Fred Taylor led the squad through a painful 7-9 season

In 2003, the Jaguars hired Jack Del Rio as head coach

The 2004 season, the tenth season of the Jaguars franchise, resulted in a winning record of 9-7

The 2005 Jaguars hoped to challenge the Colts for the division title. However, due to their scintillating 13-0 start, including two victories against the Jaguars, the Colts easily clinched the AFC South title. With a 12-4 record, the Jaguars earned a wild card and their first playoff appearance since 1999

2006 Jacksonville looked like a team on the rise coming off of their 12-4 season, and was considered a playoff contender entering the season. But injuries plagued the team. Reggie Hayward , Greg Jones , Donovin Darius , Byron Leftwich, and Mike Peterson all suffered season-ending injuries. Marcus Stroud, Matt Jones , Paul Spicer, and Fred Taylor also faced injuries during the season

On August 31, 2007, the Jaguars announced that long time back-up quarterback David Garrard would start for the team, ahead of former 1st round draft pick, Byron Leftwich who was released in the team’s final roster cuts. Garrard led the Jaguars to an 11-5 record and the playoffs . On January 5, 2008, the Jaguars defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-29 to win their first playoff game in almost 8 years and their first road playoff win since 1997

The 2008 season began with high expectations for the Jaguars. The team acquired free agent wide receiver Jerry Porter and rookie defensive ends Quentin Groves of Auburn and Derrick Harvey of Florida to address the team’s most glaring needs. (Porter was released the following year and Groves was traded to Oakland in 2010.) Journalists including ESPN.com’s Kevin Seifert predicted the Jaguars were poised to make a Super Bowl run.

However, the Jaguars failed to live up to those expectations, struggling to a 5-11 finish, the franchise’s worst record since 2003.

2009 marked the beginning of a new era for the Jaguars under new GM Gene Smith . Smith made his mark early on in the 2009 NFL Draft by acquiring talent such as Eugene Monroe , Terrence Knighton , Derek Cox , and Mike Thomas , who all made significant contributions in their rookie years. The Jaguars finished off this season 7-9 and did not manage to make the playoffs

Heading into December 2010, Jacksonville was at the top of the AFC South and in playoff contention. In Week 15, they lost to Indianapolis, 34-24, which placed the Colts back atop the AFC South. The Jaguars lost their last two games, placing themselves out of playoff contention. They finished the season with a record of 8-8.

My prediction for the 2011 season is 9-7 the Jaguars have a great chance at obtaining the playoffs.

The problem being is you still never can tell what team is going to show up to a game.

The one that gets blown out by 20 points or more or the one that puts up a fight till the very end.

I like the Jaguars but sometimes find it hard to find a positive side to the team when they allow so many mistakes and give up the winning attitude. I guess after this last pre-season game we will soon find out what the 2011 Jaguar team will do this year!

Thanks for playing Jaguars and bringing us something to talk about!
