Northern Illinois Quilt Fest (Exhibit) Saturday, Sunday, and Monday September 17 – 19th, 2011

Looking for a weekend away before the snows fly?

The final weekend of Northern Illinois Quilt Fest will be September 17, 18, and 19th, concluding with a quilt exhibit. Scenery is lovely, driving north along the Mississippi River to beautiful and historic Galena, 3 hours from Chicago, 20 minutes from the Mississippi River, and across the border of Southwest Wisconsin. Find information with maps at the Galena Welcome Center, (the Old Market House),123 N. Commerce Street, in Galena, Illinois 61036; and at the Visitors Center at the Old Train Depot, on the east side of the river, in Galena.

Exhibits are as follows: Quilts in Parlors of 9 Bed and Breakfasts, which cost is $10.00; exhibits of quilts from the Civil War era; other antique quilts; modern day quilts; Reproduction Wall Hangings made by Friendship Quilters. Please stop by the Welcome Center Old Market House, or the Visitor Center at the Old Train Depot in Galena, for information on the locations and cost of the exhibits.

A quilting exhibit at Galena Museum, 211 Bench St., will be all antique quilts and cost $7.00, while the exhibit of quilts at the Midwest Medical Center at Rt 20 West, across from Galena Golf Club, will have quilts of at least 50 years ago, and this exhibit is free to attend. All exhibits are from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on these days, September 17, 18, and 19 this year.
