Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding: A Product Review

Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding is just one of many products in the Miss Jessie’s brand of products. I initially used this product following my big chop, then again after my hair had finally grown out to my shoulders a couple of years later.

In my cursory research of the youtube family of naturalistas, I did find others who had used the pudding and gave it high praises for the most part. That being said, I was very impressed with the results some of these women were able to obtain through direct application to damp hair and/or application to their twist-outs. Thus, I was prompted to go out to the Miss Jessie’s webiste to make my purchase.

First Impressions and The Results
Service was great. The product arrived rather quickly in the mail. I immediately washed my hair and I applied the purple, scented pudding using the suggested instructions provided on the jar as well as those instructions that were posted by Miss Jessie’s videos.

As with the Curly Meringue, I initially was not very enthusiastic about the results. First, the scent was a bit strong for my liking and the results of my first application to damp hair was not at all very impressive at all. Next, I never did really see a true curl pattern emerge within my hair –nothing like what I had seen in the locks of others. Finally,I found this product to be somewhat “drying” to my hair as there was a bit of flaking.

A Second and Third Application
I did eventually try this product again, as I generally do not write a product off after one application. What I did find is that Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding is a fair twist-out product. If you are in search of a product that will hold your twists in place and create a decent twist-out, then this may be a good product for you. However, you should be prepared to possibly combine use of this product with one that provides hydration or moisture to your locks as this one can be somewhat drying –particularly to the 4C hair family.

I give this product 2.5 stars out of 5 stars.
