Excepting the Unexpected

People come and people go, you try to hold your ground,
But things get lost between the lines, get muffled by the sound,
And alas, the ice you tread is thinner than before,
You never know what you will find behind the next closed door,
Every corner that you turn you try to bite your tongue,
Except you never realize until it’s your neck getting wrung,
Just the slightest thing you say will be the one to set the trap,
To cause the next strange person to finally go and snap,
True that when I say, there is not much that can be done,
You kind of have to take it in, stop being on the run,
Things will go how they will go there’s nothing you can do,
Just try your best and then just maybe, you’ll have happiness for you.
