Metallica, atheist or christian?

Q: In a few of metallica’s songs, such as the god that failed and leper messiah, then lyrics are anti- christian, but most of metallica’s fans, at least from what I hear, say that most members of metallica are christian, and I saw that in their most popular song, called one, james constantly says “oh please god wake me” which means he’s crying to god for help. So I’m confused, are they atheist or Christian? And please don’t say anything that offends other people’s religion even though I’m atheist I still respect other people’s beliefs. I just want a direct answer with amsap (as many sources as possible)This is not a place to preach.

A: if you watch the video for ‘one’ you will see that the lyrics are representative of the character in the video, not himself. i coulnt tell you if they are religious or not, but it is possible to believe in God, even if they are not Christian or of any other religion. check out the music video and you will understand what the lyrics are about 🙂
