Pulse pressure is the systolic blood pressure minus the diastolic pressure. You may be normal as only one blood pressure would not be a reliable indicator. See the link below at to causes of increased pulse pressure.

Q: My blood pressure has always ran low 105/60 heart rate 100 as an example. This last year it has changed dramatically. My heart rate has dropped down to 80-85 (previously the only way to get it that low was to be laying down for at least 30 minutes even when I was in highschool as an athlete). My blood pressure is ranging from 115/85 after a walk to 90/82 after sitting down for a few minutes (sitting at a testing station for less then 5 minutes) I retested a number of times, getting the same result. I am a 39 yr old woman with 6 children...enough to change anyones blood pressure...but that is not the change I would have expected. I have been notably more tired and exaughsted of late, and am getting concerned (hence why I checked my BP)
A: Those heart rated and blood pressures are actually quite good to have IF you are not feeling tired and exhausted. There are three things I would have checked if you are noticing a recent change -- 1. the possibility that you have an iron deficiency anemia, 2. the possibility that you are suffering from hypothyroidism, and 3. the possibility that you are suffering from hypoadrenalism. All three can be checked by a simple blood test.

What does a high systolic and low diastolic blood pressure mean?
Q: I have had consistently high over low blood pressure around 158/55 over many tests, I am 19 years old. The nurses just say something went wrong, but it keep happening even after switching arms.I have taken it at home, at a pharmacy and at the doctors, most have been very much like that. What I am worried about is that the systolic is hypertensive while the diastolic is hypotensive and I have never heard nor can find any info on this problem.
