What are some common & uncommon signs of a miscarriage?
Q: I’ve had one once before and had no symptoms what so ever we found out during our first sonogram. I’m currently pregnant again and I’m not sure what to look for if it (god forbid) were to happen again. I am also aware that no one on here is a doctor I’m simply looking for opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance!
A: I had a miscarriage in Feb 2007. I found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks. I did not have many symptoms of pregnancy except for missed period and sore breasts. At around 10 weeks, my breasts stopped being sore. Then I started to have period like cramps. The next day I started to spot brown discharge. The day after that I started to bleed really heavy like I was changing a pad every half hour. I went to the hospital and got a ultrasound and found no baby in the sac. I had really bad period pains that I was put on morphine. I had a D&C later that day. I now have 10 month old twins. Hope you and your baby will be ok
i think i may have had a miscarriage?
Q: how could i tell if ive had a miscarriage if i didnt know i was pregnant? it sounds really stupid, but i hadnt taken a test (its uncommon in my family for women to test positive until theyre around 2-3 months), and im scared that i may have experinced one. i know cramping is a really common sign, but my normal pd cramps were a lot stronger than what these were. if i were to have been pregnant, i would have been about 6-7 weeks. i thought it may have just been my pd starting, but it was a lot more bloody than it normally was, and i had lots of little leech like things coming out. some were pretty small, but others were pretty big. i swear one looked like a tiny baby, but it was just all dark red, but lighter than the others..(sorry for the TMI). july 7th was when they started, and there wasnt that many, but they were big, & july 10 i literally couldnt get off the toilet because there were so many coming out like one after another. since that day there really hasnt been too much of anything other than normal little clots every once in a while, but i havent stopped bleeding since the 7th. (once again, sorry for the TMI) just, idk what to think. it kills me to think ive had a miscarriage, but id like to know from someone who’s had a personal experience if this sounds like one.deepest sympathys to everyone who has had one & heavenly amounts of babydust for the future <3
A: I miscarried in October 2008 and it sounds like a strong possibility. What I experienced was loss of tissue (from the baby), usually gray colored, bleeding, clots and a fairly large glob of tissue. You should definitely go see your doctor and have a DNC done to clean out anything left over. They will also be able to tell you if it was a miscarriage.
Miscarriage or normal period?
Q: After what I thought was a late period (I had some approaching period signs for one day, but they went away with no period in sight), I took an HPT it came up negative. 2 days later I started having a small amount of pinkish-brown discharge. Over the past 4 days, it’s fluctuated going from discharge to dark pink to dark red back to discharge. Sometimes it has a stretchy, egg-white like consistency. I have passed very few small blood clots, and a little bit of a substance that sort of looks like tissue — definitely not a normal blood clot associated with a menstrual cycle. I don’t really have any menstrual cramps, just some abdominal tightening, but nothing really painful. When I explain my symptoms to family and friends, their first assumption is pregnancy. I get told that it is very common to bleed in early pregnancy (“your mother is still here, isn’t she?” from my grandmother, for example), or that my symptoms are similar to those of friend’s who had miscarriages. It’s really hard for me to not understand what is going on with my body. Especially when the things I’m experiencing aren’t like what I’ve had before. I don’t have insurance right now (lost my job recently) so going to a doctor isn’t really an option and the soonest appointment I could make for a family planning center is 2 weeks from now. I don’t want to be excited, or let down, or heartbroken, if there’s no reason to feel these emotions. I just don’t know what to do.
A: Well to me that doesn’t sound like a miscarriage. When I had both of my miscarriages it started off kinda light but then got very heavy to the point were I’d leak threw a heavy pad in less then an hour. Finally I passed a large clog and the bleeding slowed way down. The reason I say it’s more than likely not a miscarriage is because you said the pregnancy test was neg. I’ve after a miscarriage you can get a positive pregnancy test because it takes so time for your levels to go down.
