I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks 4 weeks ago, I got a positive pregnancy test today, do you think I’m pregnant?
Q: I know hcg can stay in your system for awhile but I had a blighted ovum discovered at 8 weeks 4 weeks ago.. would it still be in my system, i was barely pregnant and bleed for less then a week….TIA!
A: I would call and ask the doctor for a blood test. They have two types of blood pregnancy tests. One will give you a yes or no answer about being pregnant and one will actually measure your levels of HCG. The one that measures the levels is the one you should ask for. Good luck and I’m sorry for your loss.
fear of missed miscarriage at 10 weeks 4 days?
Q: I am 10 weeks and four days pregnant. at 8 weeks 5 days i had an ultrasound and heard my my baby’s heartbeat at 167 doctor says everything is find. Lately i have been reading a lot about missed miscarriages and how you dont know if you miscarry. what are the chances of this type of miscarriage. My first pregnancy was a blighted ovum miscarriage. how can i calm my fears?
A: The only way you are going to really calm your fears is if you go to your doctor. Have you had anything out of the norm happen lately that would make you concerned? In most cases I believe you will experience a heavy flow of blood when having a miscarriage. That is what happened to a friend of mine recently. But every case can be unique. I am sure you are fine. I am in my 16 week, and I worry about everything as well, so I understand. However worrying is harmful because it causes stress on you and your baby. Please just check with your doctor for peace of mind!
What happens after an early miscarriage(4 weeks)?
Q: Here’s my situation-I was due for AF about tuesday, tested on Friday morning and got a positive test-I would ahve been about 4weeks. I had been nauseous, etc. this was my second pregnancy so I was pretty sure even before the test. Well, today I started bleeding at first I was trying to be calm because I had a tiny bit of bleeding with my son around 5 weeks. But I just keep bleeding and bleeding its almost like a period but not quite as heavy or thick flow, no cramps. I am about 99% I have lost the baby and hoping the OB will see me tomorrow to find out what happens next. I didn’t go to the ER or anything because I know there is nothing they can do for you.Has this happened to anyone? Is it considered a miscarriage or a chemical pregnancy? Will I have to wait to try again? Yes, I know only my doctor can tell me for sure but I am very heartbroken and cried all day and knowing what to expect when/if they even see you after something like this would be helpful. Thansk in advance.
A: Hi there. First off, I am so very sorry for what you are going through. I had an early miscarriage in September and I know you are heartbroken. I tested positive when I would have been about 4 weeks. About a week later I started bleeding lightly. That continued for about 6 days and then on the 7th day it was much, much heavier. Then, it continued for a while until light and then stopped. I hope I am not being too detailed, but if you’re like me you like to have some idea of what to expect…although, everyone is different. As far as the appointments, the first day I started bleeding I went in and they took blood from me to test my HCG levels and I left. I didn’t see a doctor or nurse…just the lady who takes the blood. Then, you go back two days later and they take it again. Your HCG should double by then. (You probably already know that part, but just in case…) If it has gone down they will know you are having a miscarriage. Mine had gone up slightly, but not as much as it should have so I had to draw blood again another couple of days later. It had gone down significantly then. I just had to go home and wait out the bleeding. It is so early for you as it was me that it is mostly like a very heavy period and you will pass tissuelike “stuff”. None of that is painful. You may eventually have cramping during this time. I talked to the nurse and she said to take extra strength tylenol. Never did I have to have anything more than blood drawn and I don’t think you will either because it is so early. So sorry to babble on and on, but I know how you feel and with all you are dealing with right now you shouldn’t also have to fear what the doctor may do. The heartache is way worse than the blood draws and the actual miscarrige “process”. On a good note, I waited one cycle before trying again and conceived the next month. I hope the same happens for you and I wish you a quick emotional recovery. Prayers to you…
