Wintertime Skin Ailments Solved With Common and Economic Sense

Wintertime…it’s time to cuddle up by the fire and drink hot coco. It’s about presents and goals for the New Year. In my 25 year old world it’s really about what I am going to wear to an overpriced New Year’s party that ideally includes an open bar. In order to look good for the New Year, it’s vital to take care of your largest organ; your skin. Here are a few cheap tricks to cure winter skin ailments:

Dry SkinVaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Body Lotion…This stuff is cheap and effective. Does anyone avoid dry skin in the winter?

Lack of sunJergen’s Natural Glow Daily Firming…There are only so many colors that go with stark white/translucent. For this issue I am a big fan of this Jergen’s daily sunless tanner. It builds a subtle glow of color so I don’t startle my co-workers with carrot fingers from a spray tan booth. It literally looked like I stuck my hand covered in glue in a bag of baby carrots.

CuticlesBurt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème…Dry cuticles can ruin a perfectly good manicure in a time of year when sometimes all people can see of your actual skin/body is your hands and face. A nice shade of red can make dull winter skin look more alive.

Even skin toneKiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate…I know it is a little pricey but Kiehl’s has what I consider to be a magic potion for everything skin related. They do offer discount codes around holidays so if you can spring for one thing, this stuff is 10.5% pure Vitamin C. And it feels warm when you rub on your face, a wintertime perk.

Chapped lipsBurt’s Bees Lip Balm… Any kind they make. They do no wrong.

ItchyAveeno Active Naturals Soothing Bath Treatment…A warm bath that soothes your itchy dry skin. Glass of wine is optional.

FlakeyThe Body Shop’s Cranberry Joy Body Scrub…This is the ultimate wintertime combo; it gets rid of dead, flakey skin and it smells like a Thanksgiving side dish.

Expanding skin– Personally this is a huge issue for me. I have yet to find a jar or tube of anything to prevent this. Actually all the tubes and jars I seem to encounter in the winter are full of peanut butter, sugar, or chocolate. This one is free. Put the food down and do 30 jumping jacks. Repeat as needed.
