Repurposed Vinyl Record Jewelry Instructions

Create unique and unusual vinyl record jewelry from old vinyl singles or albums. The process is very simple and easy to complete. If you are not in procession of any vinyl records, make a trip to the thrift store or keep an eye out at garage sales.

Things You’ll Need:

Vinyl album
Cookie sheet
Oven
6- to 8-inch long scissors
Oven glove
Hotpad
Metal bangle bracelet

Instructions:

Step 1 – Place the vinyl album on a cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet in a 150 degree Fahrenheit oven for 10 minutes.

Step 2 – Put on the oven glove. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and place it on a hotpad.

Step 3 – Lift the album from the cookie sheet with the oven glove. Cut the album into strips from 1- to 3-inches in width. Determine the size of the bracelet prior to cutting the strips.

Step 4 – Place the strips on the cookie sheet. Reheat the strips for 10 minutes.

Step 5 – Remove the strips from the oven. Wrap a strip around a metal bangle bracelet. Allow the record to cool for 15 minutes before wearing.

The same process works to make a headband or ring. Cut the heated vinyl record into the desired strip width. Reheat the strips. Wrap the hot strips around a metal, wood or glass item the desired size. Allow the item to cool 15 minutes before wearing.
