Missoni for Target Collection: Target’s Website Crashes Due to the Missoni Craze

Target debuted the designer Missoni in its stores on Tuesday, causing Target’s website to seize up from the overwhelming traffic. Missoni is an Italian luxury designer usually reserved for the runways. However, Target struck a deal with Missoni to launch a 400-piece line in their stores allowing the “common folk” the ability to afford a few pieces. Missoni is popular for its trademark zigzag patterns ranging between $2.99 and $599.99 for patio furniture. Normally, the high end patterns would go for $595 to $1,500.

CBS reports that the scene at Target stores resembled Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year which takes place the day after Thanksgiving. Patrons were lined up blocks from Target’s doors waiting for the opportunity to purchase Missoni products.

Target’s website has had continuous trouble staying online to handle all the traffic. It was back up briefly Wednesday morning but went down again. The best way to combat this is to keep checking back.

I think Target hit a home run offering runway styles for affordable prices. Of course the quality is somewhat different as the runway options are made of real fibers while the Target options are made of synthetic materials. However, it is very difficult to tell the difference. The Today Show is reporting that even celebrities have been buzzing about the Target options.
