How long does it take to recover basic motor skills after gallbla...?

You should not lose any motor skills from gallbladder surgery. I take it you are talking about limitations because of pain when you try to do something. GIve it a week. More if you had open surgery, not endoscopic.

Does anyone know whether surgery to remove gallbladder cause heartburn, why and how long is it going to last?
Q: I just had a laparoscopic surgery to remove the gallbladder because of gallstones. A week after that, I started to have acid reflux and heartburn. I don't know whether it's caused by bile reflux due to the removal of the gallbladder or whether the 2 tablets of Omeprazole 20mg I've been taking is causing the problem or whether it's the 1 tablet of Etoricoxib 120mg I've been taking for the past 6 days. I'm really suffering now. I wonder how long is it going to last. Has anyone who had gone through a gallbladder removal surgery tell me if they had the same experience?
A: I just had a lap choley 16 days ago. I felt great for the first four days until I woke up with extreme nausea and burning in my stomach. This has continued ever since and I have been scouring the web for answers. I had an endoscopy this Monday and the GI found bile in my stomach. I had previously been on Prilosec for what I thought was acid reflux. The GI said to stop taking it and instead initially tried Carafate with limited success. He is now trying me on Questran which theoretically soaks up bile in the intestine. I am a bit concerned since this is mostly used for bile diarrhea and I do not have that, only reflux. I asked how common this problem is after surgery, since it seems many people on the internet experience it. The GI said it is very uncommon but not unheard of. I had a post-op visit with my surgeon, who never heard of this nor had it as a complication with any of his patients. So from what I have been able to gather, in some unfortunates post cholecystectomy, bile can either spill on to the intestines causing diarrhea or reflux into the stomach. If the bile continues to reflux it can cause GERD, or they can occur simultaneously. It is difficult to tell the difference without further tests. However, I have heard it takes 3-6 months for the digestive system to adjust to not having a gall bladder. Otherwise, Actigall is sometimes tried, which supposedly thins the bile and last resort is surgery. I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us that we are just slow healers and this will resolve on its own.
How long did it take you to recover from laproscopic gallbladder surgery?
Q: I am going to be having gallbladder surgery here in the next few days, and I want to know peoples experiences with having their gallbladders removed. I am in my early 20's and I will (hopefully) be having laproscopic surgery. I'm going for my consultation with a surgeon tomorrow, but I would like to hear your views before then. I just mainly want to know how long recovery took, what you could eat, and what the lifting limits are. I have a 7 month old daughter and I want to be able to hold her!
A: the procedure takes a couple of hours sometimes only one hour, you will go to a PACU (post anesthesia care unit) then to a regular hospital unit for approx 2days or so, then home, if there are no complications. You'll be back to normal in about a week or two, but will be able to return to work before then.
How long will I be down after gallbladder surgery?
Q: I'm having surgery Thursday to remove my gallbladder, which wasn't expected. How long will I be down afterwards? I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old. I also had plans to go to the race Sunday, which I'm sure won't happen now.
A: This will be different for everyone!I have a slightly higher pain tolerance than other people, I was "down" for about a week. I did stop taking the pain killers after the first 24 hours, I wanted to go back to breast feeding asap. But I did not carry my daughter at all for at least the first week. I would recommend getting some help, you should not be lifting your baby at all. I was able to walk around and basically care for myself but there is some pain. I also had a hard time getting out of bed, could not sit up on my own to get out of bed - since stomach muscles are basically not there right after wards. You will need help, make sure you have someone there for at least the first 3-4 days, I would recommend a week or two though.Good Luck!
