is it normal to bleed during early pregnancy?
Q: i missed my periods by 8 days and had a blood and urine test, but the test was negative. however, my doctor suggested me to get the test again after 1 week as all the symptoms were of pregnancy. but on the 10th day i am bleeding something like on the first day of periods. i am really worried. is this periods or some complications of pregnancy?
A: If you never got a positive test, it’s safe to assume you weren’t pregnant. Even if you were about to miscarry/miscarrying, you would get a positive pregnancy test. But to answer your first question, about 1/3 women have bleeding in early pregnancy, myself included.
is it normal to bleed quite alot during early pregnancy?
Q: i’m 15 and basically i missed my period and i took a test a few days ago and it came back as positive. yesterday the bleeding was only light and unnoticeable whereas today its pretty heavy. me and my boyfriend have had sex yesterdayy and days before if that has anything to do with it?i’m planning to go to the hospital to get an abortion in the next few days because of the age of my boyfriend and i don’t think i could cope with a child.
A: Bleeding can happen during pregnancy, but ‘a lot’ is never a good sign, and I know this was probably an unplanned pregnancy and you didn’t know but its not good to have sex in your first trimester (until you are 3 months) incase you danger your pregnancy. Some are fine, but others aren’t. Not just for your pregnancy, but to check out your own health you definately need to go to the doctor. Do not think that if you are having a miscarriage (which hopefully you aren’t) that it is straight forward and just like a period, it is not, and can have risks and complications. You could even be at risk for an ectopic pregnancy which is rare, but is dangerous.Sorry, I don’t want to freak you out, I’m sure you will be fine, but you definately need to go to the doctor, don’t put it off. And if you decide to become pregnant in the future, buy or borrow a pregnancy book so you know what to do and what not to do, what is safe, what isn’t etc.Good luck!
Bleeding during early pregnancy, is it normal?
Q: I am young, and I am about maybe 3 weeks pregnant. After two weeks of thinking I was, I took a test and it came out a faint positive, I took two more the next day and the following day and they were positive as well and more defined by the third one. So I know I am (plus yesterday morning I took a digital one and it read ‘pregnant’). Anyway, I had very little brown and light pink spotting yesterday. I know I shouldn’t have (tmi by the way coming up) but my fiance and I had rough sex last night and I was kind of thinking that this could be why I’m bleeding now. I woke up this morning and I was bleeding a bright red. My period is not “due” for a few weeks and usually when I have it my period is a super heavy flow. Even with a super tampon I leak sometimes. But I have a pad on right now and there is a spot on it but other than that I used up a pantiliner earlier today. But whenever I wipe and whenever I go to the bathroom I see bright red blood still. I can’t go to my doctor, I am out of town and the office is closed. Can anyone tell me if this is normal at all? It is my first pregnancy. I do not have any pains at all. My back has been hurting for about two weeks but my doctor said that it is because the pelvis bones are moving in anticipation of birth and they will be all throughout my pregnancy. But like I said, I do not have any pains at all in my abdomen or anything and I still have all the symptoms my doctor said were normal with pregnancy. But I have that recent bright red blood… I am scared and nervous, and I do not have a UTI. If anyone can help me that’d be great of if anyone has experienced this and still had their baby? Idk, thanks for the help though…
A: I’ll try and put your mind at ease. Firstly when I found out I was pregnant I had terrible pains on my left side and thought it was an eptopic pregnancy (plus I had spotting which was the implantation bleed but I didn’t know this at the time). Then when I was about 4 wks I had sex and it was a little rough and I had a bleed. It was browny pink and then when I woke up in the morning it was more red. Every time I went to the toilet that day there was blood on the tissue and I panicked. I rang the midwife and she told me that I may have disrupted the cervical mucus plug and to refrain from sex for a few days. The bleeding stopped later that day. Like you I had no pain. A couple of weeks later I had a bit of constipation and had another bleed. This time there was quite a lot of blood. I was told to rest up and again later that day the bleeding stopped. On both occasions the midwife sent me for a scan to check everything was ok and it was. I am 20 wks now and I’ve had no more bleeding thank goodness but I sympathise with you that it is so worrying. My advice is to rest and when you can, contact your doctor/midwife. I just wanted to let you know that bleeding doesn’t always mean something bad is going to happen honey and to try and relax. I hope everything is ok and good luck xxx
