How long should you wait to resume intercourse after a pap smear?
I have always waited at least a week. I am curious to know if anyone's Dr. has recommended a "waiting time"? I figure after the scrapping and the curretage (sp.) of the opening of the cervix... it's somewhat similar to a scratch that needs to heal. Any thoughts?
More Answers to "How long should you wait to resume intercourse after a pap smear?"I have never been told a waiting time. I just wait till i feel its time usually after the cramps subside but never have i waited a week maybe a day or two never had any problems with it orgasms actually make it feel better faster
I've never waited any amount of time. If I felt like it that very day, we'd resume sexual relations. Personal preference I'd say.
Ok, a normal pap smear you have no wait time afterwards and i have been having them for years. Please explain what type of pap smear you had because my pap smear has never consisted of scrapping, etc? A normal pap smear consist of a cotton swab swabbed around the cervix.
Cells around your cervix are like those found on you buccal mucosa (inner lining of you cheeks). They can shed easily like CIS people collect them with a Q-tip. So there no tissue tearing at all and you can have sex, as soon as the Doc turns away to sent the specimen to the lab!! Best wishes!! never thought about it .. maybe a few days? lol
i have never been given a wait time...now i have been told don't have sex the night prior cuz it can alter the result..i assume the sperm could...i would say if you feel ok and its not uncomfortable there shouldn't be a problem.=)
I'm aware that you are required to avoid sex for 48hrs (2 days) before the procedure. I guess having sex after the procedure is you call. A Pap smear is not painful, but the pelvic exam may be a little uncomfortable and sometimes you might experience spotting..So if you feel comfortable to have sex right after the test i guess you wont be breaking any rules.
I have never felt the need to wait any particular amount of time - though it is probabbly best to wait at least untill you leave the doctors office. But then that has nothing to do with the pap.
They're basically just removing a few cells. The skin isn't broken per se. I'd say you can do it right away unless it causes you pain.
A pap is not a cut or scrape..its an oversized q-tip used to swab the cervix..no reason to wait either.
