My period usually starts on the first of the month. But this month it started about 5 days earlier (on the 26th) This month I was eating less, exercising less, and sometimes sleeping more/less than I usually do. Would that have any affect on the fact that the flow is lighter than usual? I am not sexually active.

If you are eating less, as in much much less, then that could affect your period. Sudden decreases in weight can make your period stop altogether. But on another note, a lighter period is usually nothing to worry about. But if this continues the next time, or if you feel any pains or anything like that, then you should get it checked out by your doctor
If you aren’t sexually active then there is nothing wrong with your cycle. Your change in routine may be the cause but there is nothing wrong with you. .. i don’t think it has anything to do wioth having a light flow, but if you don’t feel well you should go see a doctor.. try taking osme vitamins to boost up your energy and try to eat well!
Cycles do not necessarily follow the days of the calendar month. A woman’s cycles are considered regular if the cycle length falls from 27-31 days in length. (The figure may be wider).I use cycle beads to keep track of my cycles. Even if you don’t use them for birth control (I don’t rely on them for BC) they are helpful just for keeping track of your periods.
well everyone have a diffenrent set of flows your whole period life isnt going to be the same flow it switches up somtimes and having your period earlier than normal is also cause by stress
