Why We Hate the “Chicken Dance”

If you’ve ever been to a wedding reception, a party, or basically any event with a DJ you know about the unfortunate cycle that inevitably pops up. If you stay around long enough, you will start to feel as though you are having de ja vu. Don’t worry, though, it isn’t your mind playing tricks on you- it’s just the terrible disk jockey that was hired playing the same tired songs over and over again. Just like a song on the radio gets overplayed to the point where a previously enjoyable tune becomes an absolute nightmare, a bad DJ working your wedding reception can manage to annoy your guests away.

No one should ever be duped into paying for a terrible DJ. Unfortunately, when it comes time to hire a disk jockey most people tend forget the old saying about getting what you pay for. They try to take the cheap way out and then they’re surprised when the DJ shows up with terrible equipment, tiny speakers that are nearly blown out, and a stack of “greatest hit” CDs to get everyone through the gathering. That’s just a recipe for a terrible time; this is when it reaches the point that the DJ is actually taking away from the atmosphere instead of contributing in a positive manner.

The way to get around this is to make sure that you hire a good DJ that is going to work with you on the song selection and play songs that you want to hear. This is your wedding reception after all, if you want a great selection of wedding songs you should be able to get that. If you want something else entirely, you should be able to get that as well. Generally, you are the one hiring the DJ and paying for their time, they should be playing whatever it is that you want to hear. A good DJ can help keep your reception from sliding down into the “boring” territory and lulling your guests to sleep.

This is exactly the reason that you should hire us. Yes, we’re just a bit more expensive than some of our competitors, but we use only top of the line sound equipment and our DJs work with you to figure out exactly what it is that you want. The disk jockey is not just going to turn up ten minutes before the reception is supposed to start and start playing the current Top 40 hits or wedding songs of yesteryear. You’re going to have the opportunity to work with the DJ and establish exactly what it is that you want. We’ve been serving the quad cities, Illinois, and Iowa for quite a while to a great degree of satisfaction- give us a try, you won’t regret it.
