Why the Dallas Cowboys Suffer at Home

The Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team, chosen by God himself as the premiere football squad. Blessed by some of the deepest pockets and the nation’s best talent, they reign as one of the elites among the elites; which begs the question, why do they have such sub par performance. Many of team’s critics are quick to blame quarterback Tony Romo or team owner Jerry Jones . It is the opinion of this author that neither are solely to blame. Rather, it may just be their new state of the art $1.2 billion stadium.

Cowboys Stadium is 8 th of the world’s wonders. With a television screen stretching from 20 yard line to 20 yard line, it is hard not to be impressed with the sheer awesomeness of the building. But does this stadium do more harm than good for the home team? Since the Cowboys moved to the stadium, their performance has been somewhat questionable at best.

Inconsistency has plagued God’s football squad. While there have been some blowouts, often times poor squads give the Cowboys a run for their money on their own turf. Just look at this past week’s game against Seattle. I believe this might be attributed to the fact that the Cowboys are used to playing in their stadium. It does not give the home team the same advantage that visitors have, who, understandably, are aided by new found adrenaline being in this behemoth bowl.

Similarly, home fans are often staring at the screen rather than chanting at the players themselves. People sitting top row of the 50 yard line can not see across the field, thus splitting to rowdy crowd. This lack of unity can take the fanatics out of the game with a few poor starting drives. While this theory has nothing to do with the team’s poor road performance, it certainly may explain why the Cowboys lose at home so often.

How ironic it would be if Jerry Jone’s creation served to benefit the visitors rather than the God’s chosen Cowboys.
