Week 9 Defense Rankings – player profiles and stat projections will be updated throughout the week

Week 9 — QB Rankings — RB Rankings — WR Rankings — TE Rankings — Defense Rankings — Waiver Wire Pickups — Picks & Predictions — Player Injury Updates

1. San Francisco 49ers = @Was —– The 49ers are looking like the real deal entering week 9, as they are #1 among defenses in fewest rushing yards allowed per game at just 73, including 0 rushing touchdowns allowed this season. They are also the #1 defense in fewest points allowed per game, having allowed an average of just 15 points per game so far this season. A matchup against an already weak Washington Redskins offense this week, could easily net the 49ers defense 3-5 sacks and 1-2 interceptions, while also likely holding the Redskins offense to 10 or less points in this game.

2. Green Bay Packers = @SD —– The Green Bay defense has no doubt given up their fair share of yards this season, but that mostly has to do with the fact that opposing offenses are usually down by a touchdown or two and need to pass a lot to get back into the game. However with a Chargers offense that is dealing with injured running backs, and uncharacteristically bad play from Philip Rivers, the Packers defense could easily be looking at creating a couple of turnovers in this game.

3. Cincinnati Bengals = @Ten – 67% —– The Bengals defense continues to play at a very high level, and a matchup against a reeling Tennessee Titans offense could have the Bengals once again in the top 10 scoring defenses for week 9. In other words, the Bengals defense SHOULD be starting in every 10 team or larger league in week 9. Sot if they are available in your leagues waiver wire pool, go pick them up and spot start them this week!

4. Houston Texans = Cle —– Finally coming into their own, the Houston Texans defense faces a weak scoring Cleveland Browns offense that could easily be held to 10 points or less in this matchup. Add in a likely handful of sacks with an interception possible as well, and the Texans defense is looking like a top 10 scoring fantasy football defense this week.

5. Atlanta Falcons = @Ind – 20% —– The Falcons are fresh off the bye entering this weeks game, and Curtis Painter can easily tally his share of turnovers and sacks. The Falcons have a very realistic chance at being a top 10 scoring defense this week in all fantasy football leagues.

6. Philadelphia Eagles = Chi —– The Eagles defense definitely showed up in last weeks game against the Dallas Cowboys offense, and a turnover and sack prone Jay Cutler this week could easily make the Philadelphia Eagles a top 10 fantasy football defense this week.

7. Dallas Cowboys = Sea —– After getting embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles offense last week, a must less potent Seattle Seahawks offense could be in store for a very long day in this game.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers = Bal —– Whether it is age, injuries, or a combination of both…….the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is just not that good right now.

9. Baltimore Ravens = @Pit —– One of the best defenses in the entire NFL this season, the Ravens will have their work cut out for them against a potent Pittsburgh Steelers offense this week.

10. Chicago Bears = @Phi —– After the Eagles offense torched the Dallas Cowboys defense last week, it is very hard to trust the Bears defense in fantasy football starting lineups this week. With that said, Vick is always prone to turn the ball over, with the Bears potentially taking it to the house for a TD.

11. New York Jets = @Buf —– The Jets are a flyer play this week, as they are facing a very solid Bills scoring offense in this matchup.

12. Oakland Raiders = Den – 17% —– Assuming Tim Tebow gets the start again this week, the Raiders defense should have plenty of opportunities to create turnovers and limit the amount of points that the Broncos offense can rack up under the extremely inaccurate arm of Tebow in this game.

13. Washington Redskins = SF – 31% —– The Redskins defense is nothing special, but they have been very good at getting pressure on QBs this season. A matchup against the sack happy Alex Smith could have the Redskins defense tallying 5 sacks this week, with an interception or fumble definitely within reach as well.

14. New Orleans Saints = TB —– Another flyer defense, the Saints are worth a spot start if you want to take the gamble, especially if LaGarrett Blount is still injured and does not play in this game.

15. Kansas City Chiefs = Mia – 19% —– Even though the Chiefs defense has tallied only 6 sacks this season, which is easily the worst among all defenses in the entire NFL entering week 9, a matchup at home against a weak Miami Dolphins offense should give them an opportunity to tally some turnovers in this game.

16. Arizona Cardinals = StL

17. Buffalo Bills = NYJ

18. Tennessee Titans = Cin

19. San Diego Chargers = GB

20. Miami Dolphins = @KC

21. New York Giants = @NE

22. New England Patriots = NYG

23. Denver Broncos = @Oak

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers = @NO

25. St. Louis Rams = @Ari

26. Cleveland Browns = @Hou

27. Seattle Seahawks = @Dal

28. Indianapolis Colts = Atl
