Ways to Avoid Someone that You Do Not Like

Most people can think of at least one other person to avoid like the plague. They might steer clear of this person because they are simply annoying, or they may not like them for a host of other valid reasons. They could be a bitter ex, or someone difficult to get along with. In any case, it is possible to avoid someone that you do not like, even if you live in the same small town. Do not go into hiding because of a difficult or a particularly irritating individual. Use these easy ways to stay away from them, and go on with life without punishing yourself in the process.

Put your Blinders On in Public

No one should have to completely avoid favorite stores and other public places just because they could run into someone they do not like. This is a ridiculously stressful way to live, and it is completely unnecessary. Put on your blinders when out in public. When shopping favorite stores, focus on the task at hand instead of looking into the face of every single individual that passes by. This is an ideal way to avoid someone that you do not like because it is not possible to speak to someone that is not even noticed. They will possibly see you, but people usually know when they are truly despised. If this has been made obvious in one way or another, chances are they do not like you either. Do not make eye contact and no one will have to speak.

Speak or Wave but Keep on Walking

When trying to avoid someone that you do not like, if they happen to catch your eye, do not be rude and make the situation even more uncomfortable. Say hello or simply wave, but by all means, keep on walking and pick up the pace. Pause for just a split second and it will be necessary to stop and talk. As previously mentioned, those you do not like probably feel the same way, and they probably will not want to stop and carry on a meaningless courtesy conversation either.

Keep a Pocket Full of Excuses

If you do not like someone and they are too strange or simply too dense to have a clue, keep a pocket full of excuses in the back of your mind. When trying to avoid a really annoying person that might want to be your very best friend, do not end up caught off-guard. They could request a visit, or they might even have the nerve to ask for a favor – even if they are not much more than an acquaintance. Keeping excuses in mind is essential when trying to avoid someone that is exceptionally annoying and overly friendly. This is the kind way to avoid them instead of coming right out and saying what is really on your mind.
