Window blinds add comfort, privacy, and warmth to our homes. However, most blinds have cheap little plastic cord pulls that split apart and break over time. One solution is to glue these plastic blind pulls together. However, why not make your home a little prettier with some custom made pulls using decorative beads?
This project is simple and does not require any special equipment. The most challenging part is deciding on which beads you want to use!
Take inventory of your window blinds. Note how many blind pulls in each room you want to replace and the overall color of the room. Decide if you want your beaded pulls to blend in or to contrast with the existing color scheme. Also note how many blind cords are threaded through each of your existing blind pulls. Smaller blinds probably use 2 cords while larger blinds may use 4 cords. The larger blinds will require beads with larger drilled holes.
Individual and packaged beads can be purchased at most major craft retail locations such as Michael’s or JoAnn’s.

Step-by-Step Directions to Use Decorative Beads to make Window Blind Pulls
Remove the old yucky plastic pull from your window blind and recycle it. Use the scissors to trim up any uneven edges of your window blind cords. The cords should be about the same length. Thread all the window blind cords through the pre-drilled hole in the decorative bead that you selected. Tie a sturdy knot in the window blind cords so that the bead does not slip through. Optional: Place a small amount of tacky craft glue on top of the knot and press the bottom portion of the bead into the glue. Repeat the above steps with all the window blind pulls in your house.
Stand back and enjoy your handiwork. With just a few beads and a little bit of time, you have added some stylish decorative elements to your home with eliminating the hassle of breakable plastic window blind pulls.
