Ukala Kids 2012 Boots Are Cool for Kids

The cold weather is creeping in, and before my daughter’s toes could start to get nipped by Jack Frost while waiting for the bus in the mornings, she and I headed to the mall. We had a shopping strategy: she must peruse two department stores fully before choosing her favorite pair of boots, and the boots must be under 50 dollars. Then, I added a bonus challenge: to choose a pair of boots for her cousin who is the same age as she is. My daughter was tickled to get to choose her own boots this year, and to help pick out her cousin’s birthday present. Here are the two that she chose, with a description of each, which, interestingly enough, just happened to be made by the same company.

My daughter’s choice #1: Ukala Kids Lily Boots for Kids

When my daughter first saw these shoes, her first words were: “Warm! Cozy!” Take a look at these Ukala Kids Lily boots if you’re in the market to deck out your little girl with toasty feet this winter. My daughter even said while trying on the boots, “They feel warm like hot chocolate.” With these boots, you’re little princess can take the hot chocolate coziness outside with her to keep her tootsies toasty in the winter cold, so to speak.

With their smooth, Chestnut-colored suede, and creamy colored full, plush Australian Merino wool lining, the temperature of those toasty tootsies adjusts with the season to keep feet, as advertised, “fresh and comfortable”. I generally advocate for zippers with other styles of boots, but with these tasteful ugg-style boots, the pull-on style with knit cuff detail makes for an easy on and off for the little girl on the go.

Speaking of the little princess on-the-go, a great feature in any kids shoe is that it offers durability, and with these shoes the suede uppers feature double-stitched seams for added durability. They also offer a reinforced heel that gives support in key areas–to help prevent tumbles and spills for your rough-and-tumble toddlers. Ukala Kids Lily boots have lightweight rubber outsoles, which won’t weigh down toddler tootsies, either.

My daugher’s choice #2 (for her cousin): Ukala Kids Taj Low Boots

I have to admit, it’s hard for me to like any of the other Ukala Kids boots as much as I like the Lily style, but this one pulls in at a close second due to the fact that it also looks very warm and cozy, and has a nuance of Alaskan handiwork with the simple yet cool wooden toggle closures. My daughter said they look, “Like Eskimo boots!” These definitely look like they’ll keep feet warm and cozy due to the height of the boot and the very plush and warm wool lining. These boots look like they can tread through snowdrifts and keep kids right-side-up over the ice, with great traction and reinforced heel support, similar to the Lily boot. The colors are classic and will go with any ensemble, with the color choices of olive or black. You might think these colors are boring, but the fresh, large-lettered Ukala logo in hot pink (“Oooh, pink!”) on the back of each boot give the boots a modern edge and cool factor that girls will appreciate. The color choices are also practical in that average wear-and-tear staining won’t be so obvious after your child sledges through roadside sludge on her walk home from school or bus stop.

So, there you have it: my daughter’s top two picks for kicks this winter. My daughter and her cousin will most assuredly be proudly tromping around the neighborhood in style and warmth as they roll giant snowballs down the street this snow season.
