Tupac Shakur: Best Poetic Rapper Remembered After 15 Years

The anniversary date of Tupac Amaru Shakur’s death 15 years ago, on September 13, 1996, is a huge day for fans everywhere. Many fans as well as celebrities will especially pay their respects to Tupac today. Moreover, celebrities will dedicate their songs as a tribute to Tupac. More importantly, many will be celebrating the passionate life and artistic contributions the rapper has offered. Tupac, aka 2Pac, is a legend because of his deep thoughts written into lyrical rap. Tupac has been recognized by Congress’ National Recording Registry for his astounding lyrics.

Various artists recite Tupac’s poetry; this is one of my favorites: “the rose that grew from concrete.” Tupac’s poetry expresses love and his hardships throughout his life as well as discusses God. In “My Dearest One,” Tupac conveys his gratitude to God for granting his sweet love wish. You can listen to the lyrics to “The Rose that Grew from Concrete” here and read Tupac’s poems here.

Here are a couple of celebrities’ takes on Tupac:

Big Sean :

Big Sean’s dream is to become as big of a legend as Tupac and Kanye West. Big Sean said, according to TaleTela, “I wanna be what Tupac was to me to this new generation. And to what Kanye was.” Sean further explained how Tupac and Kanye have inspired him: “I just want people to do what they love to do and follow their dreams, ‘cus when you’re old as hell looking back on life, you don’t want to wish you should’ve, could’ve, would’ve done anything.”

The Outlawz
:

In light of and farewell to Tupac’s shooting death in Las Vegas, The Outlawz proclaimed “we smoked his ashes,” as reported by TMZ. The Outlawz’s final album, Perfect Timing, is debuting for the 15-year anniversary to honor Tupac. Some guests who will be present for the album include “Scarface, Krayzie Bone, Trae tha Truth, Bun B., Young Buck, Tech N9ne, Belly, Lloyd and others.”

What’s Your Favorite Tupac Song?

My all time favorite Tupac song is “Dear Mama” because I can’t get this endearing phrase off my mind: “there’s no way I can pay you back, but the plan is to show you that I understand, you are appreciated.” As a Californian, my other song choice would have to be “California Love.”

Fans have been showing their love for Tupac by shouting out to @2pac on Twitter and tuning into these Top 10 songs: “Changes,” “Hit’ Em Up,” “California Love,” “Ghetto Gospel,” “Dear Mama,” “Ambitions Az a Ridah,” “Only God Can Judge Me,” “When Thugz Cry,” “Brenda’s Got a Baby,” and “Thugz Mansion.” You can vote for your favorite song here.
