Top Five Items You Should Add to Your Fall Camping List

The Fall season is usually the end for many when it comes to camping. Usually you can still fit a few more weeks into your camping season before the much cooler winter months arrive. One thing that many may not realize is the fact that there is a big difference between summers camping and Fall camping. Before you head out on your Fall camping adventure you will want to make sure you have the following items on your list. Keep in mind that the items on this list should be in addition to your list of regular camping supplies.

Warm clothing

During the Fall season it can get pretty cold at night. That is why most people bring sweat pants, and sweat suits to sleep in. The days may not be too cold so a light jacket should do just fine. At night your kids should also have their sweat gear on as well. Of course it will not get as cold as it would during the winter months, but it will certainly not feel like summer.

Mummy Style sleeping bag

The mummy style sleeping bags are made to withstand the cooler temperatures of night during Fall. These sleeping bags not only cover your whole body, but also cover your head as well. Having your head covered will help to keep the heat in and you nice and warm during your Fall camping trip.

Wick clothing

I was so happy when I found out about wick clothing. The clothing is comfortable and lightweight enough to help you enjoy any Fall hike, or adventure. What’s even better with clothing made from wick material is the fact that if you get caught in the rain, your cloths will dry quickly and you will not be soaked to the skin. Wick clothing helps to keep moisture away from your body, so be sure to check the label on the clothing you buy. They even sell wick socks.

Camping stove

Normally I would not recommend a camping stove because I really like the smell of wood on an open fire. However during the Fall season the weather can turn very quick, which can soak all of your wood, or make it difficult to start a fire. Coleman makes a great camping stove, which is very reasonably priced. You should have no problem finding it at your local Wal-Mart store.

Sleeping mat or cot

During the Fall season the ground is much colder, and this will lower your own body temperature. Using a sleeping mat to place your sleeping bag on or, a cot will also help to keep you warm on those cooler Fall nights. These mats are not expensive and will make sleeping at night even more comfortable.
