The dawn breaks bright on Easter morn
Light to the world is Christ’s gift to all
Stuffed bunnies and ducks top baskets
Filled with colored grass and jelly beans
Excited children run here and there
Searching for baskets hidden with love
Faces of glee when baskets are found
Peeps and chocolate bunny rabbits
Little Easter toys stick up from the grass
As chocolate bunnies soon lose an ear
Then it’s time to dress you up
In spring colored dresses and cute little suits
Posed for the pictures that are still in my mind
Easter Lillies in pots on top of the table
Azaleas and dogwoods in bloom in the yard
Framing the photos of family together
The beauty and splendor of Easter Mass
Surrounded by friends and believers
Celebrating the Resurrection
Jesus Christ is Risen Today
The Easter Egg Hunt later in the day
Looking for eggs amid the blooms
Tulips and daffodils in bright spring color
Eggs hanging from the eggy tree
Later still the family gathers for dinner
Ham with pineapple glaze on the table
Gathering with family and friends
The best of the best of Easter
All of these memories and more I hold in my heart
Days are gone by but memories never part
