Tim Tebow is founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation but, many of us know Tim Tebow as the Former University of Florida star quarterback, first round draft pick of the Denver Broncos, and devout Christian.
Tim recently released his first book, May 31, 2011. The book is titled, “Through My Eyes: A Quarterback’s Journey, and it is an excellent book. This book takes us inside the mind of a powerful athlete whose faith and talent has made him one of the most controversial figures in football today.
Tim Tebow has taken a stand for what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord and has been openly mocked because of it but it hasn’t seemed to faze Tebow one bit.
His faith is something that is obviously deep and it is as real, as real can be. It is a faith that comes from within and appears to have been passed down for generations. His mother Pamela is the daughter of a U.S. Army colonel, and his father Robert is a pastor. While pregnant with Tim, his mother suffered a life-threatening infection. Doctors had expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life, but Tim’s mother wanted to go forward with the pregnancy. Timothy Richard Tebow was born August 14, 1987 in the Philippines, where his parents were missionaries. He is the youngest of five children.
The book chronicles Tebow’s life from his early years, growing up in the Philippines, to moving back to the United States and about his childhood on the farm. Tim even talks about the family dog, Otis, who he described as a loyal and protective dog. He discusses the impact that his father has had on his life and he talks about football.
He grew up playing every sport imaginable, but football was his true passion. Tim has always had the drive and determination to be the best player and person that he could be.
Tim Tebow became a first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos and captured the heart of fans everywhere. But, it is Tim’s devout faith, and commitment to reaching people for Christ through missions and his personal testimony, that truly distinguish him on and off the football field.
In his professional career, Tim’s faith has been at the center of criticism, largely because the it’s hard for people to comprehend this man’s deep faith and commitment to God. Win or lose, Tim feels compelled to honor Christ for the opportunities that he’s been given. Tim is grounded and his relationship with Christ is admirable.
