There are two main types of bowling, duckpin and regular. The residents of North Kingstown, RI are lucky enough to have both styles located on Post Road. Between Wickford Lanes and Kingstown Bowl, every pro and novice is able to experience bowling at their leisure. Wickford Lanes is a comfortable, intimate environment that still retains the feeling of a small town despite North Kingstown’s recent economic growth. Since 1955, it has been the place to go duckpin bowling. Many families have birthday parties and get-togethers here. All the pizza shops in the area have delivered to this alley their fair share; however, if you book a birthday party with them, food is included. Plus, if your party is big enough, the whole alley is reserved just for you!
Although Wickford Lanes does not offer pub style fare like KB, it does have a snack machine if you get hungry. But you don’t go bowling to eat, you go to bowl and this establishment has flat rate bowling per hour. Call the staff to inquire about league opportunities. Wickford Lanes takes only cash and personal check, so be sure to hit up the ATM before heading over.
About five minutes down the road sits Kingstown Bowl. In addition to offering customers an enticing pub menu and in house pro shop, KB has lots of events throughout the week. From karaoke to poker, there is always something going on. If hanging out in the pub isn’t for you, hit up the billiards and enjoy darts, free WIFI, and a 12 foot HD TV to watch the big game. Saturday night, rock-n-bowl is one of the biggest events in town that attracts students, friends, and families. A live DJ takes all requests and the lights are turned off to create a disco atmosphere.
Daily specials are advertised on their website, so check it out before driving over as they vary from all day to evening only. KB also has leagues and holds local events and fundraisers to support the community, just walk in or call to set something up. Kingstown Bowl is definitely more modern than Wickford Lanes which is a standard bowling alley without all the bells and whistles; however, both promise fun, laughter, and of course, bowling.
