A couple days ago, my wife and I were doing some grocery shopping and noticed the Weight Watchers Smart One frozen entrees on sale. I don’t normally look at this brand because their dinners don’t seem to be anything special. But, we noticed they now had breakfast items and, figuring it would be a good way to start our morning, my wife and I decided to buy some. This included their Smart Beginnings French Toast with Turkey Sausage.
When we bought this product, I honestly didn’t think it was going to be any good. I’ve purchased frozen French toast before and there was definitely a noticeable difference between that and freshly made. I also had some concerns about this breakfast entree being filling since it is obviously a “diet” food and most diet foods like this cut calories by not having as much to eat. However, after trying this, I was admittedly impressed.
First of all, as far as overall quality goes, this exceeded expectations. The edges of the French toast were a bit dry, which is one of the things I would expect from something made in the microwave. But, other than that, I thought it tasted pretty decent. What really impressed me though was the turkey sausage. That had a fantastic flavor to it and I would have eaten more if they offered it.
Another thing I liked about this product was the little packet of syrup that came with it. That’s something you just don’t see in most other frozen breakfasts like this. The syrup even tasted pretty decent.
As far as it being a filling breakfast, again, I thought it exceeded my expectations. It didn’t leave me feeling as full as other frozen breakfast entrees. But, it did satisfy my hunger and stayed with me until lunch time so, overall, I really didn’t have anything to complain about with this.
I still don’t think of this as a brand I would buy at full price. However, after trying this breakfast item, I definitely would consider buying more of them if I were to find it on sale again. If you haven’t tried the Smart Beginnings French Toast with Turkey Sausage, I recommend picking it up.
