Marriott’s Residence Inn located on Amelia Island is a great hotel for families, couples and business travelers. We chose this hotel because of its location and because we know what to expect when we book any Residence Inn.
The Residence Inn on Amelia Island is located just two blocks away from Fernandina Beach and the local rental shop where you may rent bikes, umbrellas, chairs, surfboards and more. There are several beach bar restaurants also within walking distance from the Residence Inn.
This Residence Inn has an outdoor pool, outdoor hot tub, free hot buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi for guests. There is a also an outdoor barbeque and patio for those who wish to use it. Each room is equipped with a full kitchen, cable TV and air-conditioning.
Housekeeping is very good at this hotel. They visit the room each day to replace towels, make the beds and take out the trash.
The full kitchen is both modern and efficient. The refrigerator is a good size where you may easily put in all the groceries you will need for a week. The cabinets are fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glassware and utensils. You should really have all you need to prepare a basic meal here.
The outdoor pool at Amelia Island located directly next to the parking lot and the hot tub and barbeque. I think the pool could be a little more secluded by a more private fence around the pool. The pool is a nice size pool but on especially hot days, the pool is packed with people. For this size hotel on a Florida Island hotspot, I think the pool is just too small. I know this hotel is not a resort, but I do think that in this particular case, the pool could be bigger. Towels are available at the pool which is a nice feature. There is no need to carry towels back and forth. There is also an outdoor shower at the pool which is nice if you are just coming back from the beach and want to rinse off before getting back to your hotel room with those sandy feet.
