Options for Attending a Las Vegas Dealer School for Gaming Dealers

Gaming dealers need to attend a dealer school to have the best chance of getting a dealer job for blackjack, roulette, and other gambling games. Las Vegas dealer schools are ideally located in this prime city for dealing jobs.

Las Vegas is the ideal place to attend a dealer school because approximately 25% of the dealer jobs in the entire country are in the state of Nevada, with a large portion of them being in the Sin City of Vegas.

According to statistics by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in May of 2010, 21,680 of the 85,430 jobs for gaming dealers were in Nevada. 18,330 of those jobs were in the Las Vegas area. Thus, attending a school in Vegas gives you plenty of places to seek a dealer job after completing your school.

Before selecting a Las Vegas dealer school, keep in mind that we are not talking rocket science here. The most important thing is being able to physically handle the cards or gambling equipment. Some people are great at this, and others might not be so good at the mechanics of dealing cards. But because the actual process of working as a gaming dealer is not that complicated, you should consider attending a Las Vegas dealer schools that teaches a wide variety of dealing for table games.

If you are set on one particular game for a reason, then you could consider a school that teaches only poker or only one or two other gambling games. But if you want to increase your chances of employment in this crowded field, you want to diversify and be able to play many different kinds of games.

There are certainly other Las Vegas dealer schools for learning how to deal blackjack and poker and operate or manage other table games. Just make sure you have some references before deciding to attend a school and paying the tuition, which is typically a few hundred dollars. Be wary of any Las Vegas dealing school that tries to charge thousands of dollars. This is above the typical price. For example, PCI teaches a combined course of blackjack, Pai Gow poker, and dice for about $700. Individual games have dealer courses of around $200 to $500.
