My St. Patrick’s Day Decision

The beer guzzling, drunk fighting, green fest we know as St. Patrick’s is a holiday that we all know and love. It is a day that I remember and look forward to every year. Being the beer connoisseur that I am, St. Patrick’s day has landed me in some interesting situations. I remember being at my favorite bar, Goat Hill, in Costa Mesa, CA. I had just finished my 9 th beer with my boys and was ready to get the night rolling. Right as I slid my empty glass across the table I looked over to see what looked to be the most beautiful woman that every existed.

Now this may have been my beer goggles that were aiding in my outlook of this tall drink of water but at this point I didn’t care. Now the only issue was to come up with a way to approach her. Now I could use one of my old pick up lines from my high school days or I could act like an adult and just go introduce myself. Well after a little more liquid courage I decided to go up to her with no plan at all with the intentions that she would magically throw herself at me without any remorse.

I stumbled over to her and before I could even get a word out I tripped and face planted right in front of their table, now if this wasn’t already embarrassing enough, when I fell I threw my drink which landed and exploded under their table and all over their legs. Embarrassed and a little dizzy, I got up and began to walk away in shame when the girl told me to come back. Thinking she was going to yell at me for being such an idiot I shuffled toward her with my head down.

To my surprise she was smitten by my failed attempt. Now when I say smitten I mean she was willing to talk to me out of pity but hey every guy needs a little confidence boost every once in a while. After talking to her for a good forty five minutes I thought it was time to attempt to seal the deal so I went in for a kiss, she kissed me back and she even ended up going home with me.

I was floating on clouds the next few days to say the least until my spring semester at college started. I was sitting in my micro economics class waiting for the professor to walk into the door for the first time when I saw the very same girl from a few days ago walk in. I couldn’t believe it that the girl of my dreams went to the same school as me. The girl however didn’t walk to a seat in the audience but to the front of the class. She was the professor.
