My Favourite Video Game of 2011: Terraria

My favourite video game of 2011 would have to be Terraria.Terraria is a 2D adventure game, in which there is no real objective – you can build, fight, explore, hunt treasure and more! There’s no real way to play this game – you can play it however you want to, on your own or with friends. You can purchase Terraria on steam for Ã’Ò£5.99

Some people call this a ‘2D Minecraft’. However, I strongly disagree – whilst this game has borrowed a few aspects from minecraft, it is a new game in its own right. Minecraft is becoming a genre now, rather than a game. Terraria is more of a focus on exploring and digging, whilst minecraft is more of a focus on building. Both have their pros and cons, however I personally prefer Terraria.

There are a ton of things to do in terraria – build a cool base, build mob farms, dig to the underworld, hunt for chests and rare items, kill bosses, play online with friends, only to name a few. You start out with only the most basic of tools, and no armour, and as you find more rare ores and defeat bosses you get access to higher-tier equipment. There is no real progression line, you can do what you want when you want.

Another benefit to Terraria is that this game is very new, and has a ton of room for potential. Updates are being submitted every few weeks, which bring a lot of new content to Terraria, and the developers aren’t close to running dry of ideas. Terraria has so much room for additions, it’s almost impossible to know what will be added next.

Another good thing about Terraria is that there is always something to do. If you’re bored of digging and exploring, why not biuld a cool house? If you’re bored of playing on your own, why don’t you play on a multiplayer with some friends? I myself have over 250 hours gameplay on Terraria, and for Ã’Ò£6 ($10) that is incredible value for money.

To anyone that does not have this game – get it now, on Steam. At Ã’Ò£6, you can’t go wrong.
