Monument to Father of America is Cracked

In the darkness before la madrugada, the vultures came and perched along Jefferson Drive next to the grassy knoll, to the east of the George Washington Monument. They waited silently, anticipating, knowing, while the dawning painted the Monument blood red. When the rains came finally , they waited still, unmoving.

Thomas Jefferson had claimed it all along. George was cracked. And now, perhaps as evidence of a pro-state’s rights God’s displeasure with America, the hard as granite phallic Monument to the otherwise childless conceiving advocate of a strong federal executive, a federal government desiring and willing and capable of ministering to the needs of the people and the defense of our Nation and it’s Constitution, is cracked and recognized worldwide as unsafe.

But this morning, men would come. They would ascend the tall, erect shaft. They would carry tools, and sensors, and belaying ropes and rope anchors and carabineers and they would work through the day, pursuing their duty on rain slickened surfaces, feeling with their hands for cracks in its taunt skin, to keep the monument to the man some would have called “King” alive and standing tall.

If the watchers are patient, one of these Anti-Americans might fall.

Splat.

Where is the best spot to set up the cameras? On the grassy knoll?

Who knows?

Only God and he ain’t saying, but in the morning the light is better from the east side.
