Love at First Sight – Celebrity Couples Who Knew from the Beginning

I usually roll my eyes when someone mentions love at first sight. It’s not something I really believe in. How could you possibly fall for someone at first sight, when you know absolutely nothing about them? However, recently I’ve seen some celebrity interviews, where they’ve spoken about how they’ve met their significant other, and how they knew they had met ‘the one’ from the very beginning.

1. Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli

It was on the Ellen Degeneres show when Colin Firth told the story of how he met his wife. He explained that they were in Columbia, and how he was on the steps of a church when he first saw her, coming through the crowd.

“It was a bolt to the heart,” He said.

He admitted that he couldn’t move, and half-hoped that she would walk the other way because he worried he wouldn’t be able to cope if she approached him. She had been shaking hands with different people and attempting to speak with them in their own language.

“I was smitten,” He confessed.

He said both he and his wife knew from the moment they shook hands that they had found ‘the one’; each other.

2. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

John Krasinski was also on the Ellen Degeneres show when he revealed the story about how he met his wife, Emily Blunt.

“It’s one of those things where, you know, as soon as you meet someone you kind of know,” He said.

“You knew right away when you met her?” Ellen asked.

“Yes,” He replied immediately.

Ellen then asked him if Blunt also knew from the beginning.

“She says she does,” He laughed, “So I’m going to take that as a yes.”

He admits that he wasn’t looking for a relationship when he first met Blunt, and that he was very nervous when he first met her, immediately thinking he was going to fall in love with her.

“And as I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you!‘”

He jokingly then told the audience that that’s how to pick up a girl. Or maybe he was serious – it worked for him after all!

3. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones

Despite the age gap (25 years) between the couples, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones seem to have a very solid relationship. Douglas was completely smitten with Jones as soon as he saw her, and knew he had to marry her the moment he found out that she shared his love for golf, reveals showbizspy.com.

On several websites, including each star’s Wikipedia page, it is said that the first time the couple met, Douglas used the line, “I’d like to father your children”.

Not sure that would have worked on me, but they’ve been married for almost twelve years!

So there you go, three sweet stories that have opened my mind to the possibility of knowing at first sight when you’ve found ‘the one’. Have these stories convinced you?
