London as Olympic Capital of the World

We are going to star from the beginning, we have five airports in London that are situated in different parts of the city, the more important of them all is Heathrow airport which is one if not the busiest airport in the world, Heathrow is situated in the London Borough of Hilling don in the west part of the city some 14 miles from the centre of London , then we have Gatwick airport which is situated 3.1 miles north of the centre of Crawley West Sussex and 28.4 miles South from the centre of London , then we have Stansted airport which is situated at Stansted Mountfichet in Essex some 30 miles North-east from the centre of London follow by Luton airpor which is situated 35.1 miles North of the centre of London in Bedfordshire and finaly the City airport which is situated some 6.9 miles East of the city of London.

All the airports in this city are well linked and service by train, buses, taxis and minicabs that will make your journey that little bit easier access to this magnificent capital that awaits you and your family with all sort of entertainment , including theatres, cinemas, restaurants shopping areas palaces and fantastic views, monuments, museums , football grounds and many other attractions that we will mention as we go along, London is full of Land Marks that will remain in your memory for the rest of your life.

We are going to begin our journey in Heathrow airport because is the more important of all the airports in this country. Once we have landed in front of one of the five terminal that are situated at Heathrow we are going to find easier if we know that in each one of our terminals there are always personnel awaiting our arrival, police officers, airline staff or other airport staff that thiers duty is make people aware of the different facilities (toilets, changing rooms etc.) along the corridors that will take us to the customs hall where once we have complied with the checking of passports we will make our ways to the baggage hall, just situated immediately after the customs hall.

In the baggage hall we will find monitors that will indicate in which carousel we will collect our luggage, it will also indicate the the name of the airline, country of origin and the number of the flight, if you by any chance are not able to find your luggage there is a lost luggage office where they will attend your complain, then our next step is to follow our way to the arrival hall in our way you will have two choices, the red light indicates that you have goods to declare in which case you will have to pay your tax duty of vat on those goods that you are about to declare or follow the green light for those of you that have nothing to declare.

We are now in the arrival hall, that is the place where your love ones are waiting for you that is in the case that some one know that you are coming for those that have no one awaiting for them have a few choices, the first choice is the outside the terminal where you are going to find the taxi ramp well indicated from the arrival hall or choice of buses from one terminal to another, or buses to near by Boroughs or buses to the centre of London which is the cheapest way to wherever destination of the city, finally you have two other choices, you have the Heathrow express which is a fantastic way to begin your holiday as it takes you to the centre of London (Paddington Station) or you can take the most popular way which is the underground, in order to do that, you will follow the indications from the arrival hall Through the corridors until you get to the ticket office where you will buy your ticket and you will board your train in this case the Piccadilly line the only underground line that goes to the Heathrow airport, it travels from Heathrow terminal five to Cockfosters which is in the North London Borough of Enfield.

We have to remember that London is a very big city and is well advise that before you begin your journey you should remember one or two things that are most important, the first one to booked in advance if you can your accommodation, London is a very expensive city, second if you don’t speak the language is always recommended to learn the more important phrases for your convenience, to bring clothes according to the season and a good pair of shoes because there is a lot of walking to be done.

We have choice of accommodation in London ranging from the five star hotels some time costing hundreds of perhaps thousands of pounds per night to the most modest , could be three stars hotels, bed and bred-fast or hostels where the prices range is more affordable, for those people coming with families there are also flats, houses or other type of accommodation that is more convenient all depend of time that you need to arrange, (sharing flats or renting a house with friends).

Places of interest in London? We have so many places to visit and see in London, We have Churches and Cathedrals, we have monuments and museums, we have Palaces and Famous stadiums, we have football grounds and famous shops, we have famous squares and gardens and parks and buildings, markets, shopping centres Famous rivers and sites.

I am going to mention some of them because other wise you will probably think that I am not telling you the true .

Lets begin with those ones that are more famous and the stations close to them for example: Buckingham Palace is close to green park station, Piccadilly Circus like the name said is close to Piccadilly Station then we have Leicester square where you will find theatres and cinemas also is close to the famous Soho where all the Chinese restaurants are then we have Trafalgar Square with the famous Obelisk and the National Gallery , facing south on the right we got the Mole that is the avenue in from of Buckingham Palace on the left we got the strand with the famous Sharing Cross station, famous theatre like the Adelphi Theatre and also the Savoy Hotel and many Others facing North we have the Covent garden with theatres like the National Opera House and many others.

Facing south from Trafalgar square once again we have White hall and Downing Street residence of the prime Minister and the Chancellor of exchequer, we also have the Scotland yard and at the end of white hall we have the House of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
