Labor Day Activities in the New England Area

Labor Day is a beautiful time in New England. The trees are starting to change, the weather a bit more breezy and the days a little shorter. Below find some great activities for Labor Day in and around the New England Area.

The Vermont State Fair
September 2 – 11, 2011
Buy tickets to The Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Vermont. Tickets vary by day and activitiy and can be anywhere from free to over $300 for boxed seats. Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Tractor Pulls, Demolition Derby’s, Big Top Circus and so much more at this state event. Admission to the fair varies between $3-10 dollars depending on age. Parking $3.

Windjammer Festival in Maine
September 2-4, 2011
Food, fun and a fleet of fantastic ships to see. Experience tradesman such as boat builders, sail makers, blacksmiths and so much more. There will also be family friendly fun such as a dog parade, food, a staged pirate attack, crew talent show and many other fun festivities.

The Blue Hill Fair in Maine
September 1-5, 2011
This country fair that boasts itself as “down to earth” is fun, traditional way to spend the Labor Day holiday. Plenty of farm animals to see, oxen pullings, harness races, sheep dog trials and many more animal friendly acitivities. There will be local food and produce from farms and markets as well as entertainment such as The Bellamy Brothers, a lumberjack show, fireworks and much, much more. $5.00 to get in, children 12 and under free.

Hopkinton State Fair in New Hampshire
September 1-5, 2011
This is an agricultural fair in Contoocook, New Hampshire which is about 20 minutes west of Concord. Parking costs $2-$4. There are free events such as a sand castle scultpting company and a rhythm band. Shows range anywhere from $5-$7 and include such treats as a demolition derby and bull riding.

Newport Waterfront Irish Festival in Rhode Island
September 3-5, 2011
The Irish do have a lot of fun, so enjoy a Labor Day fun fest with comedy routines, Celtic dance, Irish music, Celtic crafts and so much more. Children 12 and under free, adult tickets range from $14 – $20 daily or $35-40 for a 3 day pass.
