Kate Hudson’s Father Not Winning Dad of the Year Anytime Soon

COMMENTARY | Bill Hudson, the father of actress Kate Hudson and ex-husband of actress Goldie Hawn, has apparently decided to vent his frustrations about the two in his new tell-all book. It sounds like Bill might just be a little jealous of their success in Hollywood.

If you recall, and many probably do not, Bill was part of a music duo in the 1970s called The Hudson Brothers. He has not done anything noteworthy since, other than marry another actress, Cindy Williams of the famed “Laverne and Shirley” sitcom. They have also since divorced. There’s a good chance the new author is trying to squeeze all the fame and attention he can get with his book titled “2 Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family.” Not such a clever title, I might add.

Bill is apparently not so clever either. He should have learned by now it is never a good idea to bash your child, or your children’s mother, and certainly not out in the open. If he thought he had a bad relationship before, watch out. A relationship with his daughter is obviously not his priority, or even a concern at all.

What does Bill hope to gain out of his book other than some short-lived fame as a has-been? Maybe he needs the money.

To make matters worse, Kate’s new baby is not even a month old yet. The last thing a new mother needs is additional stress, and her father promises to expose lots of “scandalous secrets.”

Kate’s father has already accused her of “doing stuff that is awful” and being a “spoiled brat,” according to Radar Online. It’s no wonder Kate wants nothing to do with her father, and he is going out of his way to prove it. He also described his daughter as “sick and contrived.”

It could be that Kate considers the man who raised her, Kurt Russell, to be much more of a father figure to her than the man who is her biological father. Circumstances and custody issues aside, Bill’s behavior is inexcusable, and will likely kill any chances for reconciliation in the future. It’s really sad to see any parent behave in this manner, but Kate Hudson is not the only victim.

Jennifer Aniston’s mother, Nancy Dow, wrote a tell-all book about her daughter and gossiped about her on television. Actor Jon Voight told the public that his daughter, actress Angelina Jolie, has mental problems and needs to get help, on television in 2002.

While none of us is perfect, and many of us have difficult parent-child relationships, it is never a good idea to put them into the public eye.
