Interview with Adam Marino of Vs. The Earth

On Sept. 1, 2011, Adam Marino and Kasinova launched their single “Lord Can You Hear Me Now,” which is sold on Amazon and iTunes. Kasinova is known for his work on Who Dat, a principal collaboration CD which raised funds benefiting Hurricane Katrina. Adam was invited to play guitar and sing the chorus on infamous rap star Kasinova’s single to add depth and rock’n’ roll to the track.

I recently had the chance to sit down with Adam, while he was on the road, and ask him a few questions about his upcoming projects.

1. How did you pair up with Kasinova?

AM: He and I had individual tracks on the “who dat?!” album that benefited hurricane Katrina relief.

Apparently he dug my style because his people approached me to collaborate on this new song.

2. Do you think the song is related to both his audience and yours?

AM: Absolutely! Everybody (no matter who you are, or where you come from) has those times where you feel all alone, and wonder if there is anybody out there who hears, and/or understands you.

3. How do you see your solo work tying in with the vs. the earth project?

AM: I want to do it all. As I look at the music industry, I envision taking vs. the earth to a new level where I can change the size and sound of the band for every show. No boundaries! I see space for me as a solo artist in a couple genres. I want to continue doing more collaborations with artists from variety of styles.I’m also a huge fan of country music and have more than a few songs that would fit in there. The sky is the limit really. Mainstream music is a little stale, and a little hollow right now. I want to fix it!

4. Do you have any up and coming shows?

AM:Mainly smaller intimate venues, where I can hone the songs I’ve been working on, and keep the rust off! Of course Kasinova and I will be performing some shows in support of the new track.

I’m focusing most of my time on developing my brand (VTE Global) and recording in the studio for vs. the earth’s 3rd album, which we hope to have out by years end!

5. What has been the most challenging part of working with Kasinova and balancing vs. the earth’s stuff?

AM: vs. the earth is straight rock and roll, so I guess the challenge (which I openly welcomed and wanted) was writing the track. It was fun and we got a killer song out of it!

6. Who else would you love to collaborate with?

AM: At this point I am wide open to anything. I’d love to sing, (or do anything with) Pink. I have a couple songs that Brad Paisley would sound great on! I’ve always been curious what Butch Walker and I would come up with. But as I said I’m open to anything. I just need a little room to move, and you’ll be surprised how far I can go!
