The 2011 Boston Jewish Film Festival will take place from October 25th through November 13th, with a wide variety of films, all of which fall under this year’s theme, “Neighbors Near and Far”. At the Boston Jewish Film Festival website you can watch trailers, view the schedule, and read more about the featured films. Screenings will take place at multiple venues: AMC Framingham, Arlington Capitol Theatre, Coolidge Corner Theatre, Fenway Community Health Center, Hollywood Hits Premiere Theatres, Museum of Fine Arts- Boston, Showcase Cinema de Lux Patriot Place, Showcase Cinemas Randolph, and West Newton Cinema.

The North Bennet St. School of craftsmanship will open its doors to the public for an open house on November 4th and 5th. Visitors will have the chance to talk with students and faculty members, view studio spaces, and watch demonstrations. Full-time programs at the school include Bookbinding, Cabinet and Furniture Making, Carpentry, Jewelry Making and Repair, Locksmithing, Piano Technology, Preservation Carpentry, and Violin Making and Repair.

The annual Christmas Festival at the Seaport World Trade Center features a marketplace of arts and crafts items by over 300 artists from around the country. There will also be a Gingerbread House Competition, where competing chefs will be judged by a celebrity panel, with the proceeds to benefit Housing Families. Tickets are priced at 10 bucks, but be sure to print out the ‘discount’ coupon to take along if you plan on paying at the door. The coupon is for $2 off your admission ticket; although the term discount is a bit of a misnomer since it will simply result in you paying $10 like everyone else (the ticket price at the door happens to be $12). It’s an interesting trick by the event hosts to make you think you are getting a deal, but the coupon must be used to prevent you from paying more than everyone else. Get Tickets Online
