The Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center presents its 26th Annual Oak Street Fair at the Playground Plaza of the Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Chinatown. The free afternoon of festivities will feature watermelon eating contests, arts and crafts, an inflatable obstacle course, magician and balloon twister, pony rides, community resources tables, and dental and health screenings.

This ArtsUnion event will celebrate the squeezebox and the many cultures that use the instrument in their music. From Noon until 3pm the event will consist of accordion flash mobs located at random squares around Somerville, of which anyone with a squeezebox is invited to participate in. Then from 3pm-6pm, the performances will move to areas around Union Square.

The 3rd Annual Urban-Ag Fair will feature a marketplace and festival featuring local farmers and the foods they grow. Along with delicious local foods to purchase and sample, there will be cooking demonstrations by local chefs, a book swap table, a beer garden at Grendel’s Den, contests, and local gardening experts on hand to answer questions. Club Passim will provide a lineup of live music performances for the event.

The 2nd Annual Somerville Dog Festival will feature a huge variety of doggie demonstrations and activities, including doggie skateboarding and other skill presentations, a doggie fashion show, best trick contest, owner-dog look-alike contest, and much more. See the entire list of events. The event is being presented by Porter Square Veterinarian, the City of Somerville, and City Dog Training. The festival is free to attend but donations are requested. Proceeds will benefit the Animal Rescue League (ARL).
