How to Troubleshoot a Smartphone

A Smartphone doesn’t seem very intelligent when you discover that it won’t do what you want it to do. Before you grab your eyeglasses and magnifying glass [some of the print in the owner’s manual that came with your equipment is difficult to read without one] take a few minutes and try to diagnose the problem yourself. You’ll soon discover that the components that make up a Smartphone work differently than the cell phones of the past.

Reboot Procedure

Follow the procedure that power’s off your phone. Wait about two minutes and then power on your phone. Sometimes you need to reboot your Smartphone, for the same reason you often need to reboot your computer.

Soft Reset

Open the cover to the phone’s battery compartment – make sure to turn the phone off before you remove the cover. Gently lift the battery out of the phone. Wait two minutes and then reinstall the Smartphone battery and fasten the cover to the battery compartment; Turn the phone back on. Check to see if the phone works properly.

Download Process

Check your owner’s manual for the website of your Smartphone’s manufacturer. Find the troubleshooting index and look for a reference to a system reset. If a reset program is available follow the instructions carefully. If a reset program does not exist, follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in your manual.

Technical Service

Locate your merchandise receipt and all “extra” items you may have purchased with the phone and revisit the Smartphone seller. Explain the problem you have with the phone and ask for a resolution.
