How to Make Flowers from Jewelry

The variety of size, color and sparkle of costume jewelry makes it the perfect candidate for a floral bouquet. Not too long ago, costume jewelry trees were a common craft. The jewelry was arranged into a pine tree shape, placed in a shadow box and hung from the wall like a picture. Display this beautiful jewelry in various places throughout the house using a floral container.

Things You’ll Need:

Costume jewelry – specifically earrings, brooches and lapel pins
Wooden skewers
Epoxy glue for metal
Acrylic paint
Artist’s flat paintbrush
Needle nose pliers and/or wire cutters
Vase

Instructions:

Step 1 – Paint the wooden skewers with the desired acrylic paint color. Allow the paint to dry completely before continuing.

Step 2 – Remove the backs from the costume earrings, brooches or lapel pins if possible. Many backs will simply break off when bent. Others may need to be cut or pulled from the back of the item.

Step 3 – Place the skewers in the vase. Cut the skewers at different lengths to create the floral bouquet.

Step 4 – Remove the skewers from the vase. Place a drop of epoxy glue on the back of each costume jewelry item. Position the skewer in the glue and prop to hold in place while drying. Drying time will take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.

Step 5 – Position the costume jewelry flowers in the vase.

Add dried or artificial greenery to the bouquet. Make several and give them as gifts.
