Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Goes Down in Flames

Fans of Marvel’s super hero films are getting a dose of flaming skull from “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.” Nicolas Cage reprises his role as the titular cursed Marvel hero. Do Tennessee audiences applaud this vengeful spirit?

“Ghost Rider is an awesome Marvel character that never seems to get the attention he deserves. He has badass written all over him, yet they keep relegating him to side projects and mediocre game cameos. Fortunately, this time around they did him justice! Long live the rider!” Ben Humus, 30, Collierville

“I’m not a big fan of Ghost Rider, but I do love 3D super hero movies! That’s all I’m here for. I must admit that this one wasn’t nearly as good as I was hoping. How do you make a film with a flaming skull head dude so convoluted and dull?” Stephan Law, 29, Millington

“I applaud Marvel for trying to branch out and give losers like Ghost Rider and Blade their own cinematic adaptations. That said, these pathetic characters end up doing little more than embarrassing their much more successful and competent contemporaries. At least DC knows to keep Captain Boomerang hidden in the back somewhere.” Lucas Graham, 27, Memphis

“Ghost Rider isn’t really my favorite hero, but he’s no loser. Most of the time I forget he exists altogether. The 3D effects weren’t as impressive as I was hoping. I think they need to go back to the drawing board for Ghost Rider if they decide to try again. Reboot time?” Arnold Basset, 36, Whitehaven

“I only saw this crappy Marvel cash-in to tide me over until the ‘Avengers’ movie. Do you have any idea how disappointed I am? It was truly awful. Somebody can curse Nicolas Cage and whoever directed this mindless dribble.” Mindy Schroder, 27, Collierville

“I didn’t think it was possible. I really didn’t. They actually found a way to make a Ghost Rider film worse than the original. I’m speechless.” Ruby Hester, 22, Arlington

“What a stinker. Did they really think people would eat up this god-awful sequel? The truly disappointing thing is that I’ve read Ghost Rider comics. There’s a good movie in those pages. You have this creepy, occult flavored Marvel story that keeps translating into a pitiful Nicolas Cage action abortion.” Pamela Loran, 33, Memphis
